As a top Chinese indoor racing coach, after years of teaching students to fly, I've found that all 2-inch and smaller whoop-style drones currently on the market—whether soldered or plug-and-play—are extremely cumbersome to maintain. This places an excessive maintenance burden on students, coaches, and parents. Additionally, when students transition from indoor racing to outdoor 5-inch racing, they often require an extended period of flight adaptation. The root cause is that the airflow disturbance from the ducting during flight causes unnecessary drag, further reducing the already low thrust-to-weight ratio. The low mass and minimal inertia of indoor drones also prevent pilots from effectively sensing the optimal timing for throttle lift-off and recovery during turns. Furthermore, the integrated body design requires complete disassembly for repairs after any fracture.

 

The all-new airframe design drastically reduces maintenance time and costs: replacing the ducting only requires 4 screws, and all electronic components are mounted on the carbon plate. The exceptional rigidity of the frame increases the PID overshoot margin, further enhancing competitive advantages in races. The recessed battery mount allows the drone to "carry momentum" through turns, more closely mimicking the flight feel of 5-inch outdoor racers. This creates a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor racing, eliminating the need for extensive adaptation. I call it a "low-cost trainer for outdoor racing."
